Aims | To review and update the DCP knowledge and skills in minor oral surgery procedures and techniques and in the management, of medical emergencies, in the dental practice. | ||
Objectives | 1.To review and discuss minor oral surgery procedures and techniques including post-operative management of patients. 2.Understand different suture materials and their use. 3.Review different MOS instruments and their use. 4.Review and discuss medical emergencies in dental practice. 5.Practice and discuss patient monitoring including blood pressure, O2 sats, temperature, blood glucose, pulse. 6.Discuss contents of the emergency drug box and practice drawing up drugs and demonstrated injections for management of anaphylaxis. | ||
Learning outcomes | 1.Be able to describe the stage of an MOS procedure and name the surgical instruments used at each stage. 2.Demonstrate delivering effective post-operative instructions following an MOS procedure. 3.Demonstrate understanding and ability to monitor dental patients and use equipment relevant to the dental practice. 4.Be able to describe the contents and use of the medical emergency drug box in dental practice. 5.Describe the DCP role in the management of anaphylaxis. | ||
