Aims | 1- To discuss partial denture theory with emphasis on : principles of denture design, overdentures, overlay dentures, use of milled crowns, management of free end saddles and briefly rehabilitation of patients with palatal defects. 2- To discuss complete denture theory with emphasis on: principles of complete denture design, impression techniques, occlusal registration techniques, management of flabby ridges and basic implant retained overdentures | ||
Objectives | By the end of the session, delegates should: 1- Have a working understanding of partial and complete denture design. 2- Appreciate which impression and occlusal registration techniques may be appropriate when managing a removable prosthodontics patient. 3- Understand how to design overlay/overdentures. 4- Understand how to manage a patient with combination syndrome. 5- Understand the principles of duplicate and immediate denture prosthodontics. 6- Have an understanding of basic implant retained overdenture design. 7- Appreciate that patients with palatal defects can be rehabilitated with obturators and need referral to a specialist centre. | ||
