Aims


To update all Dental Care Professionals working in general dental practice on the principles of infection control. This course will ensure that all DCP`s are meeting the requirements of HTM 0105, those set by the Care Quality Commission and the General Dental Council.

Objectives

1. Be familiar with "Germ Theory" and the potential spread of infection in the dental environment.

2. Understand the principals of Universal Precautions

3. Understand the instrument reprocessing cycle

4. Have a greater understanding of the use of personal protective equipment in dentistry and the importance of hand washing.

5. have an understanding of "sharps directive"  2010/ 32 and how to manage a needle stick injury
