Aims

To encourage dental teams to implement the 2017 BSP Classification, to assist in treatment planning decisions for periodontal patients

Objectives

Following the course delegates will,

  • Be familiar with the 2017 BSP Classification of periodontal disease and it use in primary dental care
  • Understand how to complete a BPE and the importance of screening for periodontal disease
  • Be able to use radiographs to assess periodontal bone loss
  • Be able to Grade and Stage their patients
  • Understand if periodontal disease is stable, in remission or unstable
  • Be able to identify risk factors for periodontal disease
Learning outcomes

Following this course, participants will be confident to assess the periodontal status of their patients and use the classification to inform treatment planning.
