DescriptionThis is an evening course on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults for all staff working in dental practice.
Additional information

This popular course will run between 18.45 - 20.45 with registration and a meal from 18.00. Our speaker, Gill Munro, will cover signs of child neglect and the responsibilities of the dental team appropriate to Level 2 training. Gill is a designated professional in Somerset in paediatric  safeguarding.

Aims

To raise awareness of  concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people, and to act on this if necessary.

The roles and responsibilites of the dental practictioner will be considered, with aim to work together to provide early support for families.

Objectives

1. To enable dental staff to identify possible signs of child neglect and to ensure that they know what to do if they have concern

2. To provide information on the signs and symptoms of neglect.

3. To identify the responsibilities of the dental team with regard to child safeguarding.

4. To provide information on what dental staff should do if they have concerns and who is available for support.

5. Record keeping, referral and overcoming barriers to reporting.
