Description | As there was a waiting list for this popular course, it is being run again. It is an afternoon seminar for dentists and DCPs which includes demonstrations and some group work. A cold buffet lunch will be provided prior to the course commencing. Our speaker says that "dental ID plays a vital role in the identification of victims of mass disaster. It is important that we work together with the investigating authorities and other scientific disciplines to arrive at the correct decision - we cannot allow mistakes to occur." The advantages and disadvantages of dental ID will be discussed as will the mortuary, comparison and legal processes involved, with numerous references to transport and natural disasters from the speaker's own casework. | ||||

Objectives | At the end of the session participants should have a wider understanding of forensic odontology and how dental ID is accomplished. The importance of dental radiography and accurate charting should be apparent.
Participants should have gained a background knowledge of the identfication process so that they may be encouraged to become more involved at a later date. | ||||
