Aims and Objectives

  • To understand the current incidence and overall management of patients presenting with an oral cancer
  • To understand the role of the Dentist, the nurse, the Hygienist and the team as a whole in the maintenance of oral health before, during and after treatment for the cancer
  • To understand the importance of optimising oral health before surgical and radiotherapy treatment for these patients
  • The principles of delivering conventional and implant based prosthetic rehabilitation
  • Hand held information for patients as well as web based information
  • Mouthwash, oral hygiene aids and caries prevention in these patients
