Aims

The purpose of this educational evening is to bring together GDPs and Oral and Maxillofacila Surgeons with an interest in head and neck cancer and to put into practice measures that will enhance patient care, through a series of informal lectures and discussion. 

Objectives

1.  Update factual knowledge of oral cancer and pre-cancer.

2. Discuss strategies for prevention.

3. Revise how to carry out comprehensive and systematic examination of the oral cavity including examination of cervical lymph nodes.

4. Look at the signs and symptoms of head and neck cancer and pre-cancer, the investigations leading to diagnosis, and the available treatment options.

5. Review the complications of the disease and its treatment, and to discuss strategies for managing the  complications.

6. Have a clear understanding of the referral pathway.
