DescriptionThis course is for dentists and DCPs who have undergone training to take radiographs. It should allow them to fulfil the GDC recommendation that such persons should undergo 5 hrs of CPD relating to ionising radiation in each 5yr CPD cycle.

Aims

To give those who have undergone training to take radiographs (Dentists and DCPs) the opportunity to fulfil their statutory obligation to update their knowledge of issues relating to the use of ionising radiation

By the  end of the course, delegates will:

Have an understanding of radiation physics

Know the risks of ionising radiation
Know radiation doses in dental radiography
Know the factors affecting doses in dental radiography
Know the principles of radiation protection
Know the statutory requirements relating to dental practice
Know the importance and be able to use Selection criteria
Understand how Quality Assurance should be applied to general dental practice
Understand the factors affect diagnostic yield.
Know the principles of digital imaging and know the advantages and disadvantages of digital imaging in dental practice
