Additional information | A retired Consultant Orthodontist, Roz is Chair of Probing Stress in Dentistry in Northern Ireland (NI) and is Immediate Past President of the British Dental Association. A retired Consultant Orthodontist from NI, while in post she was involved in Trust governance, audit and was as appraiser and mentor. Roz was secretary to the Audit Committee of the BOS and chaired the Hospital Training Committee of the NI Deanery Roz was involved in the representative side of the BDA from her student days and chaired NI Council 2015 until 2019. Roz was President of the NI Branch in 1999. Roz established "Probing Stress in Dentistry", which works to raise the awareness of mental well-being in the dental workforce in NI and to establish a network of mental health first aiders to support and signpost dental teams who are experiencing difficulty. She continues to work on wellbeing in dentistry and remains a member on the Education, Ethics and Dental Team Working Committee of the BDA. She is part of the collaboration which has developed the resource www.supportfordentalteams.org. |

Aims | To inform participants of the impact on wellbeing of a pandemic on frontline healthcare staff along with some coping strategies and signposting resources. |
Objectives | Understand the underlying occupational stress levels of dentists and how stress impacts on mental health Understand the wellbeing effects of a pandemic on the healthcare workforce. Understand the effects of a pandemic for staff on sick leave, isolating, shielding and returning to work. Be able to put in place strategies and policies to help affected staff and improve wellbeing in the workplace. Know some of the wellbeing and mental health resources available to the dental team. |
