Aims

To provide an introduction to Inhalation Sedation for those interested in taking it up either as operators or as dental nurses assisting.

Objectives
·        Have an overview of inhalation sedation /context for use, historical background, etc
·        Have reviewed options for managing anxious patients
·        Be aware of the key medico -legal and professional aspects of IHS, including consent
·        Be aware of the anatomy, physiology and pharmacology related to IHS provision
·        Understand the preparation and delivery of safe IHS to patients
·        Understand principles of patient management under IHS including handling complications
·        Have practised the key non-clinical aspects of these objectives.
