Objectives

By the end of this one day session candidates will be able to:

  1. Recognise patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis and have a structured approach to their investigations and management
  2. Assess and manage patients with acute hepatitis/acute liver failure including paracetamol overdose
  3. Manage patients with inflammatory bowel disease including recognising red flags and escalating treatment
  4. Confidently perform an ascitic tap and ascitic drain and be competent at consent and post procedure management
  5. Manage patients with acute upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage
  6. Manage patients with an acutely dislodged percutaneous feeding tube
