Description: The Enhance Generalism Course will deliver training as part of the Enhance Progamme set out by the former Health Education England (NHS England). Generalism encompasses holistic approaches to health and wellbeing of the individual, and also the entire population. This two-day residential course is delivered through a highly experienced faculty using simulation, workshops, lectures and open discussions, all taking place in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Description: On this one day course we will introduce you to the foundations of human factors and ergonomics. I hear you say what is that? Have you ever thought about how you do your work? How does the system function and how does this impact on you? Why is it that you do the same type of job but it can be so different depending on the clinical setting? Why are some places a joy to work in? We will explore how understanding how we do our jobs can impact our performance. We will give some tools to use to understand your own work settings that you can take back and use in your quality improvement and patient safety projects. Human factors and ergonomic science underpin the day. We will look at design of the system, how mistakes happen, fatigue, culture using human factors and safety science. It will be an interactive day with a number of activities taught by Dr Franklin who is a working clinician with an interest in HFE alongside a HFE expert from a wide range of fields. The day will adapt to fit the needs of the participants in the room. It is a safe space. We want to help you understand why your day goes well sometimes and less well at others. Please bring a pen to write with.

Description: This two-day course designed for you to gain knowledge and skills in remote and rural medicine as well as improving confidence and competence in leadership and crew resource management that can be directly related to NHS practice. We will use outdoor working environments and scenarios to explore the human factors that contribute to scenario outcome. Using safe spaces, we will approach mental health and resilience within healthcare, and look at the global health challenges facing our own health care systems and those of low and middle income countries. The course will form a mixture of workshops, open discussion and debate and lecture format. Two thirds of the day will take place outdoors capitalising on an outdoor learning environment. The workshops will be split into groups and rotate during the day. Once you have signed up we will send you on boarding information with all that you you need and a link to sign up to Medall which you HAVE to do for safety reasons.
