Description | Unwell older adults are making up an increasing number of admissions to the acute take, as well as a higher proportion of unwell inpatients. They are often multimorbid and not always suitable for all levels of care We have arranged a mixture of lectures and SIM sessions to cover some of the complexity in assessing frailer older adults as well as covering common geriatric syndromes, treatment escalation, and capacity and best interest decision making. This course can be used towards the following Enhance module: patient centred practice, complex multmorbidity |

Aims | This day course is designed to help you look for and manage geriatric syndromes, get practical experience managing an acutely deteriorating older adult, as well as some interactive role play in managing complex MDT discussions. |
Objectives | Learning objectives: · To learn about common Geriatric Syndromes and how to manage/ investigate them. · To improve communication and decision making around treatment escalation plans. · To better appreciate the complexities of MDT working in frailer older adults, especially around capacity and best interest decisions. · Practical experience in managing unwell geriatric patients. |
