Objectives
  1. Understand the framework and principles of law and ethics in medicine, and why these are important to good care
  2. Reflect on the importance of good communication and how it may be shaped by these
  3. Understand processes which scrutinise clinical practice and hold doctors to account
  4. Be able to critically engage and reason in various clinical scenarios and cases
  5. The cases will include, for example: discussions around decision making where there is a lack of capacity; disagreement between parties; arriving at a best interests plan; consent; treatment at the end of life; and finding and applying legal rules and ethical principles.

    The day’s teaching will be discursive and case-based.
