  • Medical Emergency medicine scenarios
  • Paediatric Emergency department scenarios
  • Practical station:
  1. US Guided IV Access
  2. Challenging Radiographs
  3. Wrist Fracture Manipulation

Simulated activities will include direct feedback to the group in the debrief after each scenario. Small group teaching will have numbers of 4-5 to allow direct feedback and teaching regarding USS / Radiographs.

Objectives
  1. Develop an understanding of entry requirements and person specification for EM training (via ACCS or other routes)
  2. Revise / Construct further understanding and practice in managing the acutely unwell medical adult patient who presents to the emergency department (scenarios include adrenal crisis, arrythmias)
  3. Induce the process of systemic A-E approach to the acute unwell child, using EPALS algothrims as necessary (scenarios include unwell neonate, bronchiolitis in 2 year old)
  4. Evaluate plain film radiographs of frequently missed / challenging injuries (carpal bone fractures, mid foot fractures)
  5. Attempt wrist fracture manipulation on bespoke model and develop knowledge of principles of management of wrist fracture 6) Introduce bedside USS scan as method of gaining vascular access.
