Lecturer profile | GDP, Clinical Fellow, Office of the Chief Dental Officer: Leading the Change & Dental Contract Reform, Clinical Advisor, NHS England Nishma is a Hertfordshire based wet-fingered dentist. Having qualified in 2003 from Guy’s King’s and St. Thomas’ dental school she practiced in various practices throughout London before settling with her young family in a small leafy market town in 2012. She works for NHSE as a Discipline Specific Practitioner sitting on both the Performance Advisory Group and Performer’s List Decision Panels as well as providing Clinical Opinions for the Nursing Directorate through the NHSE Complaints’ Team. Nishma is a Clinical Dental Fellow for the Office of the Chief Dental Officer, working alongside Eric Rooney on the Leading the Change work stream which incorporates Dental Contract Reform and the National CDO’s Clinical Fellow Scheme 2018-19. She also works closely with LDN Chairs as a go-between for the OCDO and the local networks. |

Lecturer profile | Chair of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Local Dental Network Qualified as a dentist in 1983, Eric has worked in clinical practice and also held a number of roles in the National Health Service including Clinical Director, Medical Director and Dental Public Health Lead. He has wide experience of Dental Policy development, initially through the British Dental Association in the 1990’s and since 2002 directly with the Department of Health for England. In 2008/9 he co-authored NHS Dental Services in England, An Independent Review led by Professor Jimmy Steele, looking at the future of NHS Primary Dental Care. Since then he has facilitated the development, agreement and review of the clinical pathways being delivered in the governments NHS dental contract reform programme. In 2013 he was invited to be a board member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and is president of BASCD for 2016/17 He was appointed Deputy Chief Dental Officer at NHS England in November 2015 and was awarded an MBE for services to Dentistry in the 2015 New Year’s Honours. In October 2016 he was appointed Honorary Professor of Oral and Dental Health Policy at the University of Central Lancashire
