| Lecturer profile | After qualifying in the early 80s, from Birmingham Dental School, I spent my whole clinical career in Community Dentistry, the last 17 years as a Clinical Director. Currently, I enjoy a portfolio career with considerable variety, all under the umbrella of education. I am an educational inspector for the GDC, a Coach for the Professional Services Unit in Oxford and lead tutor for the BUOLD law and ethics module.
In addition, I run my own coaching and training consultancy, Dentalia, providing coaching and mentoring for leadership to dental professionals and a broad range of education and training topics to include reflective practice, ethical practice, leadership skills, professionalism, underperformance and communication skills. I am co-founder of Dental Mentors UK and a partner in the Dental Coaching Academy providing leadership coaching to dental professionals. I have developed two new qualifications - PG Cert level 7 in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring and the PG Award Level 7 in Mentoring to Support Professionals
I received an MBE for services to dentistry in the New Year Honour’s List 2007, and a Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice by election in March 2010. |
