Lecturer profileAfter qualifying in the early 80s, from Birmingham Dental School, I spent my whole clinical career in Community Dentistry, the last 17 years as a Clinical Director. Currently, I enjoy a portfolio career with considerable variety, all under the umbrella of education. I am an educational inspector for the GDC, a Coach for the Professional Services Unit in Oxford and lead tutor for the BUOLD law and ethics module.

In addition, I run my own coaching and training consultancy, Dentalia, providing coaching and mentoring for leadership to dental professionals and a broad range of education and training topics to include reflective practice, ethical practice, leadership skills, professionalism, underperformance and communication skills. I am co-founder of Dental Mentors UK and a partner in the Dental Coaching Academy providing leadership coaching to dental professionals. I have developed two new qualifications - PG Cert level 7 in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring and the PG Award Level 7 in Mentoring to Support Professionals

I received an MBE for services to dentistry in the New Year Honour’s List 2007, and a Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice by election in March 2010.

Lecturer profileKatherine is a registered dental nurse currently the dental nurse manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, however have been involved on a part time voluntary basis in forensic odontology for more than ten years. Katherine began her career working as a civilian dental nurse for the military and have continued as part of the UK Disaster Victim Identification team. Her latest deployments have included the Manchester Bombing and the Grenfell tower fire.
