She has over twenty five years’ experience of teaching in Higher Education. Her last post was as Principal Lecturer (Learning and Teaching) in the School of Postgraduate Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN)

Lecturer profileFinbar qualified from Cork University Dental School and Hospital in 2010. Following graduation, he undertook vocational training on the West Coast of Scotland. He spent foundation training in Glasgow, split between Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry and Special Care Dentistry.

Finbar spent 6 months as a Senior House Officer in Special Care Dentistry and Oral Surgery in Dundee Dental Hospital before Moving to the North West to take up his specialist training post. Finbar qualified as a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry in 2016 and worked for Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust before joining Lancashire Teaching Hospitals as a consultant in March 2017
Lecturer nameProfessor Helen Rodd BDS (hons) FDS (Paed) PhD
Lecturer profileProfessor Rodd qualified in Bristol with honours in 1988. Following an MRC research fellowship, she completed her consultant training and PhD in Sheffield. She was made professor in Paediatric Dentistry at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, in 2006. Her research interests lie principally in the field of child-centred oral health research. This has focussed on the impact of dental and facial differences on children’s psychosocial status as well as evaluating young people's experiences of various dental conditions and treatment modalities. This complements her clinical interest in developmental enamel defects. She works within a unique multidisciplinary children’s oral health research group (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/dentalschool/research/create). She has played a leading role nationally within the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, being a past president as well as Scientific Chair of the 2015 International Association of Paediatric Dentistry Congress and current member of the IAPD Congress Site Selection Committee. In her ‘other’ life she enjoys cycling around the world, having many adventures!

Qualified in Sheffield 1996 and following VT and multiple SHO jobs in all disciplines joing Avon PCDS as a Dental officer. Became a Senior dental officer and was appointed Clinical Director Primary Care Dentistry for Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and South Gloucester. I undertook this role for 9 years until I relocated to Manchester as the first consultant in Special Care Dentistry for GM October 2015.
