Aims

To raise awareness of the challenges that dental teams face, improve understanding and knowledge of where to direct patients and what tools can be used to assist asylum seekers.

Objectives
  • Recognise the difference between asylum seekers and refugees and the impact this has on their access to services.
  • Describe barriers to health and challenges that these groups face.
  • Discuss useful tools to assist this group.
  • Review of interpreters.
  • Explain potential trauma and impact on individuals and Dental Teams.
Learning outcomes

Following this sessions participants will understand tools which can be used and help individuals to access including HC1/2 forms, organizations to direct to, confidence in raising safeguarding concerns.
