Aims

To update primary dental care teams on rationale for the ‘Starting Well’ programme and the approach to adopting the programme across Cheshire and Merseyside.

Objectives

Primary dental care teams will be able to:

  • Describe the potential role for the whole team in improving the dental health of very young children
  • Describe how dental disease may develop in babies and young children and how to prevent it
  • Confidently deliver relevant and evidence-based dental health information to parents and carers of very young children
  • Carry out a basic dental assessment for babies and toddlers
  • Utilise appropriate Starting Well resources and be knowledgeable about further support available to establish the programme.

Course participants will engage with the Starting Well programme in the practice setting
