This year's focus will be on improving oral health with the community. Come and hear experts in their field provide advice on:

  • Evaluating Data
  • Aspiration Pneumonia
  • Communication

To provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge to include research and evaluation within their practice.

Encouraging and Supporting Oral Health Needs in Patients with Learning Disability & Autism

To understand additional support needs when encouraging oral hygiene with patients with learning disability and autism

Dysphagia and it's effects on oral health

The presentation aims to increase the attendees knowledge regarding oral care in the acute setting and also the effects of dysphagia on oral health.

Communicating with Impact: Tools to effectively influence

To discover how to utilise your body, voice and words to optimize your influencing skills.

  • Recognise the principles and current progress of the DERP programme

 Knowing & Showing what works: embedding evaluation into practice

  • Outline appropriate research designs for evaluating practice
  • Consider ethical issues for research with patients
  • Outline methods for data collection and analysis

Encouraging and Supporting Oral Health Needs in Patients with Learning Disability & Autism

  • Explore dental passports, communication aids, sensory needs and behaviour that challenges

Dysphagia and it's effects on oral health

  • Gain information regarding maintaining oral health in the acute inpatient setting
  • Increase awareness of the effects of dysphagia on oral health

Communicating with Impact: Tools to effectively influence

  • Discover how to create vocal and physical impact in online and face to face communications
  • Practise being more succinct in your verbal communication
  • Explore how to give yourself thinking space when answering challenging questions
  • Define to use your words to inspire and influence different stakeholders
  • Develop your listening skills in order to impact overall influence
  • Recognise the habits that are already effective, so that participants can be more deliberate with them

Dental Education Reform Update

Following the session delegates will have a better understanding of the programme and it's current progress.

Knowing & Showing what works: embedding evaluation into practice

Attendees will:

  • understand the minimum research design requirements for evaluation
  • know when it is appropriate to seek ethical approval for research
  • will have a basic understanding of some appropriate statistical methods

Encouraging and Supporting Oral Health Needs in Patients with Learning Disability & Autism

Following the session delegates will take away practical ideas of how to supporting oral hygiene with patients with learning disability and autism.

Dysphagia and it's effects on oral health

Following the session participants will have increased insight into the management of oral health in an inpatient acute setting and the appreciate the effects of dysphagia on oral health.

Communicating with Impact: Tools to effectively influence

Following the session participants will have a greater awareness leading to greater control over physical, verbal and vocal delivery of message.
