A selection of vegetarian/non vegetarian options will be made available, however please be aware that we are unable to cater for special dietary requirements such as Gluten Free, Nut Allergy, Vegan. We therefore suggest that delegates bring their own food if you have a specialist requirement.

This level two course is suitable for all Dentists and DCPs. This course will equip staff with the skills and knowledge to be able to identify, respond to, and report safeguarding concerns in children and vulnerable adults in dental practice.

Aims

Through continuing professional development the session will increase knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Adults and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). The speakers Jane Appleby & June Kidger have 36 years of Safeguarding experience between them. With their nursing backgrounds and experience as local safeguarding leads, this session promises to be both current and informative.

Objectives
  • Understand the national policy and legislation that supports Safeguarding Children, Adults and MCA
  • Understand your own professional role, responsibilities and professional boundaries
  • Recognise own beliefs, experience and attitudes
  • Understand the role of other partners
  • Develop confidence in assessment, evaluation of evidence, decision making, record keeping, referral and information sharing
  • Receive practical advice and support to assist you to prepare for CQC inspection
  • Act as an effective advocate for children and vulnerable adults
