| Description | The session is designed in response to the strategic direction outlined in the 'Fit for the Future: 10 Year Health Plan for England'. It addresses one of the plan's core shifts 'from analogue to digital' and the government’s ambition to create "the most artificial-intelligence-enabled care system in the world". This also aims to fulfil the General Dental Council's (GDC) 'Standards for Education (2025)', which require providers to ensure staff and students have an "appropriate and up-to-date working knowledge of technological developments relevant to dentistry, education, and assessment". |
| Additional information | Dr Thomas Evans is a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry with a passion for personalised care. He holds the distinction of being the first dentist to be awarded a Fellowship in Clinical AI. During this fellowship, he collaborated with the University of Birmingham's AI and Digital Health team on projects including improving AI readiness for NHS organisations, AI health technology procurement and error reporting in trials utilising AI. He has a strong interest in leveraging technology for improving patient outcomes and care whilst ensuring responsible adoption and use. |
