DescriptionThis short webinar is suitable for the dental team with GDC Outcomes A & C, and looks at some of the oral health conditions of those with COVID-19 and Long COVID.
Additional information

Dhruvi Patel graduated from Birmingham in 2014 and is currently a Senior Dental Officer in Oxfordshire Community Dental Service. She has an interest in Paediatric Dentistry and has spent many years working across different Community Dental Services in England as a Dental Officer and a Senior Dental Officer, with extended skills in managing patients under inhalation sedation and general anaesthetic. She completed a Masters in Research last year, which she passed with Distinction, looking at healthcare professional’s views and experiences of the oral manifestations of long COVID. Dhruvi was also a clinical supervisor for undergraduate dental hygiene and therapy students at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy. Following this, she was a Leadership Fellow in the Midlands while working with Warwickshire Special Care Dental Services.

Aims

To provide an overview of the oral manifestations observed in individuals who have COVID-19 and long COVID.

To explore healthcare professionals' views, experiences and practices for managing oral conditions in patients diagnosed with long COVID.

Objectives

To explore the prevalence, type and frequency of oral health conditions and their impacts on the quality of life of adults with COVID-19

To discuss healthcare professionals’ views, experiences and practices when caring for long COVID patients

To recognise existing oral health services locally available for patients with oral manifestations of long COVID.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this session delegates will have an understanding of some of the challenges and treatments options for patients with long COVID.
