Practical and Predictable Endodontics (PO100519)

AvailabilityCourse has taken place
SubjectEndodontics
DescriptionThis hands-on course will provide a comprehensive overview of the causes of endodontic disease and its treatment. Our speaker will describe the materials, techniques, and equipment available to the general dental practitioner today to enable participants to undertake root canal therapy, on permanent teeth, with confidence. It is absolutely necessary that candidates bring with them three Accessed molar teeth to use on the course. These teeth need to be accessed very carefully just ‘exposing’ the canals without any further preparation and unmounted. If you do not have teeth, please contact the practice and we can provide unaccessed molars.

Aims

The aim of this course is to develop the learners' ability to assess and treat endodontic disease.

Objectives

1. To explain the microbiological aetiology and causes of endodontic disease

2. To provide theoretical and practical training on how to design the access cavity and root canal anatomy with confidence

3. To provide training in the preparation from the crown to the apex (crown-down technique) including using balanced force

4. To provide training in hand and rotary preparation including using variable taper NiTi hand and rotary and reciprocating instruments and system B obturation

Learning outcomes

Following this course, learners should be able to:

1. Describe the microbiological aetiology and causes of endodontic disease

2. Design the access cavity and navigate the root canal system with confidence

3. Undertake root canal preparation with hand and rotary and reciprocating variable taper NiTi instruments

4. Use modern onturation methods including system B obturation to fill the root canal system
