Aims

To increase learners ability to manage risks related to dental law and ethics. To define the standards and inspection regimes of the regulatory bodies, CQC and G.D.C.

Objectives
  1. To examine the principles of ethical behaviour relevant to dentistry, including honesty, confidentiality, consent and the mental capacity act.
  2. To explain the role of the CQC and the G.D.C. in the dental sector.
  3. To examine the CQC‘s key line of enquiry, and the GDC standards.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the participants should be able to:

  • Describe and summarize key issues relating to conduct, performance and ethics in accordance with G.D.C. and CQC standards, including professionally relevant laws and ethical guidance.
  • Demonstrate ability in the decision-making process, so as to integrate ethical and professional accountability for consent, assessing capacity, confidentiality and duty of candour.
