DescriptionThis evening is entirely devoted to Dental Nurses and Student Dental Nurses. These monthly meetings have been set up for Dental Nurses in the south region (Ox/Bucks/Berks/Hamps/I.O.W) to give Dental Nurses an ability to network and share ideas through open discussion, support their wellbeing, plus be empowered to progress and further their career if they wish to do so. This will be delivered via Webinar. Anita Stanforth will talk about her career as a Dental Nurse and Mouthcare Matters Associate Lead for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. She discusses her Educator role for BADN and paths to progression in Dental Nursing. Following this will be an open forum and peer review discussion chaired by our guest speaker and the Tutor facilitating. GDC outcomes B & C.
Additional information

Anita Stanforth is a Mouthcare Matters Associate Lead and BADN Educator. Anita qualified at the Eastman Dental Hospital in 1978, additionally achieving a Merit grade in the NEBDSA examination. She remained at the Eastman for the next eleven years, progressing to Senior Dental Nurse and finally to Dental Nurse Tutor, having gained the City and Guilds Further Education Teachers Certificate in 1981. After a maternity break, Anita returned to work as a part time dental nurse in her local area, gaining experience in a wide variety of dental practices, both NHS and private as well as working in a sedation/GA clinic. She graduated in 2016 in the first cohort of the FDSc Advanced Dental Nursing, and joined the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Healthcare Trust as Mouth Care Matters Lead later that year, having trained at the East Surrey Hospital with Special Needs Dentistry consultant Mili Doshi and her team. Anita remains in post at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals and is currently working with the Speech and Language Therapy team.

By the end of the session the delegate will have a clearer idea of some of the roles and career routes for Dental Nurses with regards to education and Mouth Care.
