DescriptionThis evening is entirely devoted to Dental Nurses and Student Dental Nurses. These monthly meetings have been set up for Dental Nurses in the south region (Ox/Bucks/Berks/Hamps/I.O.W) to give Dental Nurses an ability to network and share ideas through open discussion, support their wellbeing plus be empowered to progress and further their career if they wish to do so. This will be delivered via Webinar. There will be an hour's CPD in which our speaker Helen Lodge talks about the role Dental Nurses play in Research and how others can get involved in these exciting opportunities. Jill Gouick from Dundee Dental Hospital will also discuss the National Institute for Health Research Studies (NIHR) - 'SCRIPT' Selective Caries Removal in Permanent Teeth and 'PiP' Pulpotomy or root canal treatment for Ireversible Pulpitis in mature teeth. GDC outcomes B & C.
Additional information

Helen Lodge has been a dental nurse for almost 10 years. She qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2016 and has completed an Oral Health Education course, she currently works in General Dental Practice in Bicester. Helen is currently taking part in two research studies in her practice with her principal dentist Laurie Powell.

Aims

The forum has been set up to give dental nurses an ability to network and have support for wellbeing plus be empowered to progress and further their career.

This session aims to give an overview of what is involved in being a part of a portfolio research study in a primary care setting.

Objectives

1. To explain what the two research studies are.

2. To examine the role of the dental nurse when involved in the research studies.

3. To provide information and advice on how to get involved and create excitement around research.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this session delegates will be able to describe and summarise what is the role of the dental nurse in the trials.

Delegates will gain an understanding of the admin and involvement of being a part of a research trial.
