DescriptionThe Dental Nurse Forum is entirely devoted to Dental Nurses and Student Dental Nurses. The Dental Nurse monthly meetings have been set up for Dental Nurses in the south region (Ox/Bucks/Berks/Hamps/I.O.W) to give Dental Nurses an ability to network and share ideas through open discussion, support their wellbeing, plus be empowered to progress and further their career if they wish to do so. This will be delivered via Teams Webinar. The speaker Anthony Asquith will look at Communication Skills and offer some tips and practical advice on how to improve and build on those valuable skills that Dental Nurses already have. Following this will be an open forum and peer review discussion chaired by our guest speaker and the Tutor facilitating. GDC outcomes A, B & D.

Anthony Asquith Dip Hyp Psych UK is a qualified psychotherapist who’s been working with dental professionals since 2004 running workshops on human behaviour psychology in dental clinics. He shares ideas on how to help dental professionals communicate, collaborate and connect in order to win trust and stand out amongst colleagues and patients.

Aims

Dental care professionals play a pivotal role in the smooth running of a dental practice.

Often being a party to conversations not heard by their dentist colleagues. This course

will assist DCP’s to improve their personal communication skills and help increase

personal confidence working with colleagues and patients.

Objectives

Introduce the use of NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) and how this may be used to aid anxious patients. 

Demonstrate how listening for better understanding can improve the communication process and how this improves your ability to influence others.

Provide easy to use tips to help you get along better with others whilst remaining assertive.

Learning outcomes

Apply techniques to better Manage anxious patients and remain calm themselves.

Communicate clearly for improved patient outcomes.

Use non-violent communication techniques to make requests that others are willing to follow.
