Lecturer profileNeil was born in Stornoway and studied Dentistry at Glasgow University. He joined the Army as a Dental Cadet in 1987 and graduated in 1989. Following vocational training in London he was posted to Germany where he worked in Military dental centres for four years. He was awarded FDS RCPS(Glasg) in 1995 and attended Sheffield University Medical School, graduating in 2000. He has served with the United Nations as a Dental Officer in the former Yugoslavia and has deployed to Afghanistan as an Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon. He currently works at Queen Alexandra hospital, Portsmouth where he is Clinical Director of the Maxillofacial Unit. His specialist areas are facial trauma, orthognathic surgery and medical education. He is married to Fiona, has two sons and enjoys cycling.
