DescriptionThe NESC Developing Dental Educators is a 2 day foundation training course exploring the role of the Dental Care Professional, focusing on the development and delivery of training sessions/CPD.
Additional informationLearning outcomes:

This two day course will be an opportunity for new and experienced Dental Care Professionals to explore:
The learning styles of themselves and others and how this can improve learning relationships
Developing, planning and delivering training/CPD sessions (e.g. induction.)
Giving and receiving feedback to learners

The sessions will be lively and interactive, using case studies and examples from participants’ own practice as dental nurse educators.

This course is aimed at Dental Care Professionals who take part in training and education of other DCPs and students

Aims
  1. Participants will explore their own learning style and its relevance in their role in training/CPD identified key success factors in training/CPD discussed the role of the training cycle and the reflective cycle in education and CPD
  2. To devise a variety of training/CPD sessions appropriate to different learners explore how to support the use of distance learning packs e.g. DN START consider how to evaluate the effectiveness of training/CPD sessions
  3. To consider different types of ‘challenging learners’ and strategies to support them effectively Examine the causes and strategies for managing tension in dental practices.
  4. To examine the value of effective feedback engage in role play of giving and receiving feedback using scenarios from their practice
