Aims
  1. To appreciate the range of periodontal conditions that require treatment, and those that do not; to understand the principal aetiological and risk factors involved in the development of periodontal diseases
  2. To understand the importance of screening and assessment for periodontal disease in general dental practice
  3. To appreciate the range of treatment options available to periodontal diseases; to understand when new treatment techniques, such as regeneration, can be used.
  4. To understand the relevance of antimicrobials in periodontal treatment; to be able to undertake long-term treatment planning in complex cases.
