DescriptionThe course will enable participants to understand changes that may be required within the practices to support patients with a variety of disabilities and to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act . It will give an overview of the various acts and give examples of legal cases. It will also describe some practical considerations encountered around Hampshire.
Additional informationThe course programme will cover legislation, various disabilities, an opportunity to share experiences with people who have various disabilities and feedback. This is a very interesting and practical course and suitable for all members of the dental team

Aims
  1. Delegates will understand why they need to consider disabled people when planning service delivery, and the factors involved in disability.
  2. Delegates will have an overview of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Parts 1, 2 and 3), and DDA 2005.
  3. To enable delegates to make their own suggestions for service delivery to disabled persons within their own practice.
  4. To break down barriers between delegates and disabled persons by an overview of disability issues and small group discussions with disabled volunteers.
