  1. To understand the nature and effects of ionising radiation and define the sources of radiation dose to the UK population.
  2. To identify and quantify the radiation risks involved in dental radiology.
  3. To outline the principle components of the IRR 1999 and 2000 legislation and the impact of this in clinical practice.
  4. To describe the radiographic process and list the requirements for processor management.
  5. To identify common processor film faults and carry out equipment safety checks.
