Aims

Provide an overview of the diagnosis, management and follow up of skin cancer relevant to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Objectives

· Recognise and classify common types of skin cancer, including clinical features and diagnostic approaches

· Describe surgical and non-surgical management options for skin cancer, including principles of excision, reconstruction (flaps/grafts), and managing advanced disease.

· Understand follow-up protocols and the oral surgeon’s role in early detection, multidisciplinary care, and ongoing surveillance

Learning outcomes

On completion of the session, trainees will have increased their knowledge and confidence in the recognition of different types of skin cancer, the management options and the role of the Oral Surgeon.
