DescriptionThis is a full day hands on and lecture on reviewing aspects of Adhesive Bridge Construction.

 This is a course to improve the quality of clinical care by GDPs by updating them on the current evidence based techniques and materials for predictable clinical treatment outcomes. Dr Neil Nathwani BDS, MFDS RCS (ENG), MJDFRCS (ENG), MCLINDENT PRDS Lecturer profile Neil graduated from Guy’s Hospital with his BDS degree and several awards including the Newland Pedley award for the most clinically outstanding student and the Saunders prize for best patient care. After working in several hospital senior house officer posts including restorative dentistry, oral medicine and children’s dentistry (community and special needs) he was accepted on to the specialist post graduate degree at Guys. In 2009, Neil was highly commended for the best young dentist award in 2009 in London. Following completion of his MclinDent in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and MPros RCS (Edin), he was recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Prosthodontics. Mr Neil Nathwani has recently been appointed as an Associate Clinical Professor in restorative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute. He is the Deputy Programme Director of the Restorative Dental Practice MSc at the Eastman for the last 7 years.

Aims

Generate a different diagnosis and treatment plan based on evidence through the correct interpretation of clinical findings.

Determine patients dentofacial aesthetic requirements, identify the degree to which they can be met, discuss different options and manage patient expectations with regards to missing teeth.

Objectives

Understand which items fall within the NHS regulations and which do not.

Discuss consequences of this with the patient in a manner they can understand

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session delegates should :

Be able to increase patients awareness of understanding of treatment options and procedures by careful explanations and good communication skills.

Understand and demonstrate modern restorative concepts around adhesive bridges including

· To have a good understanding of the physiological design of restorations

· To be aware of optimal pontic design requirements

· To be familiar with good marginal design

· To prepare fixed bridge preparations to a high clinical standard
