| Aims | 1 To improve Dental nurse skills, to boost confidence in surgical dental procedures. 2 To provide training in the theory and practice for effective nursing in minor oral surgery for dental nurses, including care planning and surgical set-up. 3 To discuss the rationale behind pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing oral surgical procedures. 4 To discuss basic oral anatomy and get familiar with surgical instruments and its purpose to play an integral role in the surgical procedure. |
| Learning outcomes | 1. Clarify fundamental principles of care planning and patient management for safe and effective hard and soft tissue surgery, in general dental practice. 2 Reflect and carry out appropriate action to help Dentists involved in minor oral surgery, to improve outcome. 3 To be able to communicate with patients in an effective manner and give appropriate informative advice and reassurance. |
