Description | This is a Periodontal Hands-on course with discussion on emerging new concepts in periodontal disease management, including surgical vs non-surgical therapy. As part of the course we will look at modern instruments and techniques for efficient management of periodontal disease in clinical practice. |
Additional information | Peter Galgut qualified as a dentist in 1971, and gained an MSc with distinction in Periodontology at UCH in 1983. Subsequently he obtained the MRD (Membership in Restorative Dentistry) and also the MFGDP from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was awarded an MPhil in acknowledgement of his research in biomaterials and wound healing and later a PhD for his thesis on the uses and abuses of statistics in Clinical Trials. In addition, he is a trained Homeopath and Acupuncturist, and he is an accredited Expert Witness. In 2010, he was the winner of both of the most prestigious awards by the British Dental Health Foundation: Dentist of the Year (South) (Equivalent to England), and UK National Dentist of the Year. Dr Peter Galgut is a practicing a Periodontist in North West London (England) and a World renowned Lecturer. He has published over 120 research papers and he has written a text book on Periodontics (Periodontics: Current Concepts and Treatment Strategies: ISBN 1-85317-981-7). He has also recently launched a website offering help and advice in the management of periodontal conditions for colleagues who do not have a local periodontist. This site address is www.periodontal-diagnosis.com The course consists of initial lectures in the morning and practical afternoon sessions and is intended for Dentists, Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists. 09:00 - 09:30: Registration/refreshments.
