  1. To understand the role of the GDC specialist dental education board and how a curriculum framework for specialist training will be developed
  2. To understand the roles of the respective educational bodies and gain current consultants' perspectives in special care dentistry in setting up a training pathway
  3. To explore the trainee/trainer relationship through the experience of another dental speciality
  4. Mediation onto the specialist list and the role of the special care diploma and//or membership in special needs dentistry
  5. An opportunity to bring all stake holders together to commence the practical rolling out of special care training programmes
