Additional information | Mr Neil Nathwani has recently been appointed as an Associate Clinical Professor in restorative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute. He is the Deputy Programme Director of the Restorative Dental Practice MSc at the Eastman for the last 7 years. Neil graduated from Guy’s Hospital with his BDS degree and several awards including the Newland Pedley award for the most clinically outstanding student and the Saunders prize for best patient care. After working in several hospital senior house officer posts including restorative dentistry, oral medicine and children’s dentistry (community and special needs) he was accepted on to the specialist post graduate degree at Guys. In 2009, Neil was highly commended for the best young dentist award in 2009 in London. Following completion of his MclinDent in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and MPros RCS (Edin), he was recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Prosthodontics. |

Objectives | 1.Perform preventive and restorative treatment procedures that will conserve the tooth structure, prevent hard and soft tissue disease and promote hard and soft tissue health. 2.Evaluate the restorative prognosis for individual teeth and relate this to the overall treatment plan and patient’s aims and expectations |
Learning outcomes | 1.Restoration of teeth, using techniques which minimise unnecessary tooth damage and pulpal injury 2.Restore carious teeth to form, function and appearance using a wide range of restorative materials. 3.Restore teeth to maintain predictability of the existing occlusion to form, function and appearance using indirect restorations, and refer as appropriate. 4.Use a range of materials and techniques in the application of appropriate indirect restorations, with appropriate consideration of occlusal articulators 5.Can demonstrate modern restorative concepts around minimally invasive techniques. |
