Aims
  1. Understand the need for 'Team Working' and good communication skills; understand how to achieve good communication amongst the team.
  2. Understand your role within the team; know the role of the dental nurse in the clinical environment.
  3. Understand the elements of basic chairside assisting, including safe practice; understand how to work with patients, include how and when to and when not, to offer advice.
  4. Understand the need for confidentiality in the dental practice and the ethical obligations of a dental nurse; understand diversity, equality and rights in relation to patients and their prescribed treatments; recognise a patient's right to choose.
  5. Know how to cope with difficult and agressive patients; understand the need to handle patients' complaints sensitively; understand your own rights and responsibilities in relation to your employment.
