Daniel Gillway is a STR in special care dentistry working across Oxfordshire providing a range of dental services for adults with additional needs. He has worked across a variety of secondary care settings and he has a particular interest in treatment with IV sedation.

*This webinar is suitable for entire dental team, will be delivered via MS Teams and an email with joining instructions and a short a guide to remote learning will be sent to you at least 24 hours before the course starts. Please log in early to check your IT supports MS Teams and check that your microphone is off but your camera is on (you can upload a background of your choice for privacy) signing in using your Deanery registered name helps us to confirm your attendance. Aims

Revise commonly encountered medical conditions and relevance to dental care

Review risk assessment and history taking

Discuss referral pathways for patients with complex medical backgrounds and gain confidence with treatment options in primary care or a community setting

Objectives

Cover common medical conditions with a systems based approach (e.g cardiology and neurological)

Work through case based discussion on medically complex patients from a special care dentistry perspective

Identify patients that may need a more complex risk assessment and further investigations prior to dental care

Learning outcomes

Participants will be confident with treatment options in primary care or a community setting.

Learn who and when to refer patients.
