Aims

Overall aim:

This full day course will include: Antimicrobial prescribing and stewardship, record keeping, H & S, the role of guidelines and managing the risk of CQC and GDC conflicts.

Specific aim:

To increase learners’ ability to develop strategies to manage risks related to prescribing and stewardship record keeping, H & S, the role of guidelines and managing the risk of CQC and GDC conflicts.

Objectives

1. Examine good antibiotic stewardship and appropriate uses in dentistry.

2. Review Sensible record keeping and how to dispel some urban myths

3. Discuss how to avoid close encounters with regulators eg GDC, CQC & HSE

Learning outcomes

1. Explain Antimicrobial prescribing and stewardship, appropriate to dentistry,

2. Demonstrate recognition of the necessity of accurate and sensible record keeping and how to dispel urban myths.

3. Describe and summarise key issues relating to performance and ethics, in accordance with GDC CQC & HSE Standards.
