DescriptionDental Photography is essential in record keeping. It is imperative all members of the dental team are appropriately trained and have the correct equipment.

The educational programme starts at 09:00.

09:00 – 12:00: Workshop/practical

12:00 – 13:00: Lunch

13:00 – 16:00: Workshop/practical

16:00: Close.

There will be short refreshment breaks during both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Please note:

All participants should, if possible, bring a suitable digital camera (with a macro lens and ring flash). However, a camera will be available for participants who do not have a suitable camera.

1. To provide an overview of the applications of dental photography in everyday practice.

2. To investigate the use of dental photography as a diagnostic and marketing tool.

3. To provide information and advice on choosing and using the correct equipment for dental photography practice.

4. To describe the skills and demonstrate the techniques necessary for consistent and excellent dental photography practice.

5. To investigate the applications of dental photography related to medico-legal matters and record keeping, and highlight issues of consent and duty of care.

Learning outcomes

Following this course learners should be able to:

1. Recognise and discuss the applications of dental photography in everyday practice.

2. Implement dental photography practices to improve care planning, case acceptance and patient motivation.

3. Choose and use the equipment necessary for dental photography practice.

4. Demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary for excellent and predictable pictures.

5. Keep accurate and detailed records, act in the patient’s best interests, and take any appropriate action.
