| Aims | Overall aim: To protect children and young people from abuse. Specific aim: To clarify the roles and responsibilities of the whole dental team in promoting the safety and well-being of children at risk of abuse. |
| Objectives | 1. To explain safeguarding and child protection. 2. To discuss the various types of abuse and neglect and the signs that they are happening. 3. To discuss how to ask questions if you suspect a child is being abused and how to report concerns. 4. To review national legislation, policies and guidance on how the child protection system should work. 5. To provide training in best practice documentation and record-keeping, and data protection issues relating to information sharing for safeguarding purposes. |
