DescriptionAn overview of all forms of tooth discolouration and the various techniques used to treat them will be covered. In addition, the theory of shade taking for both restorations fabricated in the mouth and in laboratories will be discussed. The various techniques will be shown on natural and artiificial teeth for the 'hands-on' part of the course. Participants will be able to perform the various techniques for themselves.

  1. To understand the various causes of tooth discolouration.
  2. To gain knowledge of all techniques available to treat various discolouration with appropriate indications and contraindications.
  3. To enable the participant to use the various techniques available.
  4. To understand the theory of shade taking and to enable participants to take shades with the new systems available, for composites used directly in the mouth and ceramic restorations fabricated in laboratories.
