DescriptionThis evening is entirely devoted to Dental Nurses and Student Dental Nurses. The Seventh of these monthly meetings for Dental Nurses in the south region Ox/Bucks/Berks/Hamps/I.O.W) will be delivered via Webinar. There will be an hour's CPD in which our speaker Melanie Holloway talks about 'Menopause Matters' - signs and symptoms of Menopause and how it can affect you in the workplace. Following this will be an open forum and peer review discussion chaired by our guest speaker and the Tutor facilitating.

Melanie Holloway has worked within the Diversity and Inclusion space since 2018. Prior to this role, Melanie was the Lead for EDI for a large social housing organisation, responsible for writing and implementing the EDI strategy. Having been with HEE for 2.5 years as part of the National Diversity, Inclusion and Participation Team, Melanie's areas of expertise is LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Staff Networks, and has led the Menopause Working Group for the last 18 months. Melanie has a real passion for diversity and inclusion, "it's a driving force, my motivation, the fire in my belly. I understand the needs of the diverse communities in which we work and serve, not just from my Diversity and Inclusion work but from a 20 year career in social care. I'm committed and passionate about the principles of equity and understand that it will ultimately assist any organisation to achieve its goals. I understand the importance and value of developing a culture where all colleagues can be their authentic selves at work, where differences are celebrated and sought out, where there is a sense of belonging. I'm a change maker and like to inspire others, to believe in themselves, be the best that they can and always strive to do more".

*This webinar is suitable for Dental Nurses, will be delivered via MS Teams and an email with joining instructions and a short a guide to remote learning will be sent to you at least 24 hours before the course starts. Please log in early to check your IT supports MS Teams and check that your microphone is off but your camera is on (you can upload a background of your choice for privacy) signing in using your Deanery registered name helps us to confirm your attendance. Logging onto to Webinar will be from 18:20. Aims

The forum has been set up to give dental nurses an ability to network and have support for wellbeing plus be empowered to progress and further their career. 

To learn about Menopause - when, what symptoms, tips on things that may help, barriers to asking for help, importance of looking after yourself at home and work.

To look at managing or making adjustments for patients.

To discuss delegates own experiences and signpost to further reading and resources.

Objectives

To give a better understanding of menopause and the terminology used. Raise awareness of symptoms, how they can impact and actions you can take to mitigate menopausal symptoms.

Learning outcomes

Following this short lecture, delegates will have the knowledge to better recognise and manage own symptoms of Menopause and those around them including patients, increased confidence to talk about menopause, which may contribute to better patient care.
