Aims
  1. Understand the definition to the term 'infection'; understand the definition of 'infection control', clinical governance and legal and ethical requirements.
  2. Be able to apply the principals of good infection control.
  3. Understanding the need for sterilisation of instruments; know the different cleaning, disinfecting and sterilisation techniques and their uses.
  4. Recognise and understand potential infection risks; understand the need for organisation protocols and how these link to universal guidance.
  5. Understand the need for accurate record keeping and how to achieve this; understand personal protection, and how to protect the patient and all members of the dental team.
